As part of its awareness programme for cancer among men, the eight captains of the 2010 Varsity Cup will today run out onto the field in pink rugby shorts in the opening matches of the competition.
The fact that Ruben Kruger died of cancer last week, confirmed the seriousness of the programme and the pink shorts will also be worn in memory of this great rugby hero.
The third instalment of the popular FNB Varsity Cup rugby competition kicks off at two venues today, with double headers in Port Elizabeth and Pretoria set to get the season off to a cracking start.
Defending champions Maties are again the side to beat, and they will take on the Madibaz at the Xerox NMMU Stadium, with Ikeys and Shimlas also locking horns at the NMMU Stadium.
